A law firm handling sensitive, high-profile matters / Client work / 2025 to 2026
AI governance for a law firm where confidentiality is the whole job
An AI policy, workflow map and confidentiality-rated tool matrix for a firm's AI committee.
The problem
The firm's attorneys were already curious about generative AI, and clients were starting to ask how it was being used. Its matters are sensitive and often high-profile, so a single careless prompt could expose privileged information.
The firm needed to decide what was allowed, which tools were safe enough to use, and how to explain its approach to clients, without slowing its people down.
What we did
We started with discovery sessions with the firm's AI committee, then mapped the workflows where AI could actually help: research, drafting, document review and intake.
From there we wrote an AI policy handbook covering acceptable use, data handling and review requirements, and drafted the language the firm uses to describe its AI practices to clients.
Finally, we evaluated e-discovery, legal generative AI and document-management tools, rating each by task fit and confidentiality risk.
The result
The firm now has a written AI policy its staff follow, a shared vocabulary for talking to clients about AI, and a tools matrix it uses to make purchasing decisions.
We name the firm only with permission. Ask us about it on a call.
